Canada Self Employed Visa

The Self-Employed Persons Program is for farmers, professional athletes, and individuals in arts and culture who can prove skills and experience to immigrate permanently to Canada as self-employed professionals.

To be eligible, you must generally demonstrate:

• Relevant experience in culture activities or athletics
• Potential to make significant contribution to Canadian cultural or athletic life

Canada Self-Employed Eligibility Requirement

• Applicant must have relevant work experience
• Applicant must meet the program's selection criteria
• Applicant must be willing and able to be self-employed in Canada
• Applicant must meet medical clearance, police clearance, and other major conditions

Relevant Work Experience

• Applicant should be in athletics at a world-class level or taken part in cultural activities
• Applicant has been self-employed in cultural activities or athletics
• At least two years of relevant experience as a self-employed person
• Experience should be during the last 5 years before the date of application

Work Experience Requirements

For cultural activities:

• Two years of being self-employed in cultural activities, or
• Two years of participating at a world-class level in cultural activities, or
• A combination of one year of each of the above

For athletics:

• Two years of being self-employed in athletics, or
• Two years of participating at a world-class level in athletics, or
• A combination of one year of each of the above

Selection Points Criteria

Applicants must meet the points-based assessment. Current pass mark is 35 points out of 100 for self-employed immigration.
